It’s difficult to find fans more devoted than those who follow hardcore and metal. It’s more lifestyle than music preference. And while the genre has experienced lean times, it’s currently experiencing a new golden age. This past June at Hellfest, the genre’s preiminent festival, photographer Ronan Thenady chronicled the chaos.
